The Journal of Bangladesh Studies released

The Journal of Bangladesh Studies was released yesterday in the city for the first time with a promise to promote development and create a positive impact in the academic and policy spheres.
The journal, now in its 12th year, has already found home at world-class universities around the globe, and will be promoted in Bangladesh by Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh (PRI), said organisers.
The journal is an initiative of a group of Bangladeshi professionals living in the USA named Bangladesh Development Initiative (BDI), in association with the Pennsylvania State University.
Planning Minister AK Khandker unveiled the journal at a ceremony at the conference room of PRI in Dhaka.
Speaking as chief the guest, the minister said the journal aims to raise issues and shed light through analysis on the past and current economic and wider social issues of the country. “Thus, the journal forms a strong analytical base that will feed into the policy process.”
Zaidi Sattar, chairman of PRI; Mirza Azizul Islam, former caretaker government adviser, Mizanur Rahman Shelley, chairman of Centre for Development Research, Bangladesh; Ahsan Mansur, executive director of PRI; Mustafa Mujeri, director general of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies; Salim Rashid, professor of economics at University of Illinois, and MG Quibria, professor of economics at Morgan State University, also spoke.
Sadiq Ahmed, vice chairman of PRI, moderated the event. Syed Saad Andaleeb, distinguished professor of marketing at Black School of Business in the Pennsylvania State University, is the editor of the journal.
